All three young from last year. Another file that popped out of the archives from a request! Funny how you find stuff you forgot when it happens. Maybe a nother colour problem as taken under strange conditions. The barn is open on the right side only and there are some badly dis-coloured transparent yellowish roof panels. Not a lot of light anyway.

This looks nearer the mark John and probably what I'd might expect given the difficult light conditions. You might try a touch of saturation and reduce any cyan/blue if it appears too strong. The image is utterly delightful and I like the way you have cropped it.

This image and the owlets are absolutely adorable. I do think they need some more sharpening though.

Thanks both. Tried some colour adjustments but so many different readings according to the distance from the opem side of the barn. Some colours I just cant see anyway but my son can so I am basically up the creek. All I can do is post what looks reasonable to me.
Maria - done a bit of usm PS forgot to mention - lot of white poop removed !

Cracker capture John. It looks to me like you have handled the tricky lighting very well. I agree with Marina re sharpening but only selectively on their faces and perhaps feet as the rest looks soft and fluffy as one would expect at this stage. Cheers, Ian.

    Hi John,
Your repost came up while I was writing my feedback on the OP. For what it's worth, I like the OP colour adjustment but as I have never seen this species apart from in pictures... how would I know? Warm regards, Ian

    John:

Very cute indeed. I prefer the warmer tones and higher contrast of the repost.

    Thanks Randy
Your comment does raise an important isuue- what people prefer, especially as far as colour goes which as you probably know , I have a problem with, as I dont see greens and reds to well. I too prefer the warmer tones and in fact the camera is permanently on auto WB 2(preserve warm tones) Trouble is, some one likes the other blue end and I start altering things and end up in a right mess !! As some one said recently -Diane I think- post as you like it and don't worry too much as long as there isn't an obvious glaring colour cast.
    Thanks again.

This is just TOO sweet!! I prefer the colors in the OP -- too much red in the RP. Halfway might be good. I love the kind of light you can get in an old building like that, and the drama is worth preserving.

This stuff is hard enough when color vision is perfect.

Hi John, I got excited on my recent trip to our Kruger National Park and spotted a Pearl Spotted Owlet ( my first in the wild ) and you have them on your doorstep. Great trio and love the pose of the owl on the LHS. Colourwise, I feel your OP is closer to the natural colour although I wasnt there - maybe a bit more exposure on all three, and sharpening already mentioned.

Super trio. I prefer the colour in the OP actually. What great fun it must be to watch these grow from furballs into owls!

Excellent image of cute ones having their own house.
