I just cannot resist photographing gulls when they come in for a landing in nice light. This one came back proudly carrying a piece of a river mussel it had earlier dove for.

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/2000s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, cropped for composition, gull tail at bottom left and face at bottom right both remove via combination of content aware, clone, and patch tools.

    Daniel:

Sharp, well exposed, like the tilt giving the diagonal, well framed.

    Food item adds.

    Cheers

Wonderful pose, sharpness and delicate color. I might lighten the dark band at the top.

Hi Dan, you certainly did have lovely light, and I do like the banking angle. Good detail throughout, sharp, and the catch a bonus for both of you. Lovely blues of the water.

Very nicely done! Gulls make great practice birds for both in flight and correct white exposure

    Nice composition and good sharpness
