I looked through my seal images from Helgoland , and could not find a decent shot in nice warm light .
So i went through my Donna Nook files for that reason and found this .

    EF 800 IS L
    Tripod + Gitzo fluid head

    F 8 ; Iso 400 ; 1/320 sec

Processed with DPP and PS CC ; cropped for comp from left side .

Thanks for watching and commenting to my previous thread.

Ha Ha thanks Andreas....It sounds like it was tough to find one. The sunlight sure gives more colour. Thanks for posting.

Dumay yes have some images taken in sunlight from Helgoland , but in that harsh mid day or early afternoon light . So i opted for the image from England where i had better light most of the times , surprisingly .

Hi Andreas - I like the wide, round eyes on this one. You handled the side lighting well. Nice tones too.

Andreas, I like the side-lit face with that large round eye, the prominent whiskers and the alert pose he gave you. Overall a very fine image.

Nice look he has and gorgeous light, Andreas. Placement in the frame is nice, as if he's lunging towards us.
Is the snout in focus?? Perhaps an SS issue as opposed to a DOF issue?

Thanks Morkel and Carl for your comments .
Morkel ........ you got me on the nose . The nose is sightly OOF so i tried to sharpen it selectively to overcome that slight softness in detail .

    Thanks again , Andreas

Hi Andreas, nice to see some warm light at DN .

Although warm, it has created some very strong shadows, but not enough to lose detail or form, cool. I wonder if you could lose a bit off the LHS so it takes it a tad off centre, WDYT? More ISO to get a bit more DoF but hey, when you are out there.... Like the water droplets on the whiskers.
