Whist the rest of the clan were out, for once the new additions to the den actually took time out to sit and behave.

Probably could have squeaked a tad more ISO for some extra DoF...

Hi Steve - A sweet moment, well captured. It's amazing how tolerant the adults are of the cubs. I like the bit of green that your shooting angle gave you. My initial reaction was that the blacks were a bit strong but you've got nice detail there.

Hi Rachel, when I brought it back into LR the Black did have a highlight, when I clicked on it to see where it was, it was absolutely minimal in the shadow areas, so no loss of detail or choked areas, so I'm cool about the darks/shadows and now achieving a far better spread across the whole histogram just means better info to work with.

I think you and I had a fair trade off re positions and we were certainly evenly matched and you avoided the 500 hitting your head, or worse the 200-400 .

Hi Steve very nice peaceful scene in front of their den.The youngster licking the adults ear is priceless , very cute .
The comp works well with the youngster on left a bit separated filling the frame with life.
Good overall color/tones and sharp where it matters .
Even if you say there is detail and nothing is choked in the blacks , i would slightly lift them .

I know this den well Nice relaxed pose on the female and the cub biting the ear adds loads of interest. Yeah I suppose more DOF as you say to get the left cub sharp may have been better. Very nicely processed.

    Hi Steve

So very sweet! Love it. Lovely light and very good expressions on the hyenas. This is an inspiration to get out there and experience this kind of moments.

A tender moment well-captured with perfect light. I love those little perky eyes and a the bit of pink tongue on mama's ear.

Just love the moment and the gorgeous light, Steve. Agree, perhaps a bit more ISO for DOF but looks fine as is.

Awesome - what a sighting! I would lift blacks, if only to get a small amount of separation between cub and mum.
