Another Burrowing Owl image from Salton Sea after a rare rain in August. All of the owls seemed so happy to have their bath after a long drought season in California.

What a great alert pose. I love these little owls - they are such a blast to photograph, and you captured this one very nicely, Loi. You mentioned cleaning up to BG with content aware, but I noticed what looks to be a single raindrop or spot just above the owl (about an inch above eye on right); not sure if you intentionally kept that in there to give the context of rain, or if you missed it in the content aware cleaning.

Hi Loi, looks a little bedraggled which adds a nice difference to the image. Nice sharpness & clarity, interesting to see the depth of yellow in the eyes compare to our similar Little owls. Looks like some repeat patterns within the 'cleaning up' you may wish to address?

Super pose and nice BG and I love the rock for a perch...I feel the texture of the bird (sharpening) is a bit coarse and I would remove the white fleck above the head. But a rework in PP and it will be fantastic!

Nice one Loi. The wet look works well and very nice details.

Agree on the above comments about the BG. Maybe lowering the position of the camera a bit if at all possible would have pushed the BG even further away

That is quite a crop indeed! I really like the vertical presentation, and the perch is awesome! Nice stare and wet look. Some smudges in the BG could be smoothed out, but all-in-all a high-impact image.
