We found a little pond by the road with 8 or 9 of this little beauties spinning round and round as only phalaropes do!
I decided to prop the gear up to get a higher vantage point and get the reflection.
I have several similar images but I like this one because of the drop and the circular wake produced by the bill dipping in and out.
Canon 1DX 600mm f 7.1 ISO 800 SS 1/1250.
PP: 95% FF, nothing cloned ( love that clean pristine Alaska water where even roadside ponds are clean!), global LR adjustments, levels, NR to BG, DE to bird at 3%,USM to JPEG at 35%

This looks great Gail. Lovely colours, reflection, crisp feel and sharpness.
Could perhaps tone down some of the brightest white plumage? The droplet from the beak is a nice touch.
I love these little guys! Very nice frame Gail. The detail is awesome and the pose with the perfect HA, open beak and nice reflection looks great. Nice work. Her butt looks hot :)
Had to mention that I was Tuna fishing pretty far out to sea for a few days last week and I was totally surprised to find these little birds spinning on the water 60 miles from the nearest land.

Lovely image, Gail. Great catch light and reflection. I do agree that the whites look a bit toasted and lack detail - maybe pull them down a tad and reveal some detail using Color Efex tonal contrast and / or detail extractor.
Hi Gail, you have really nailed the finer detail on this little guy, and I do like the mixture of colours, not to mention the lovely blues of the water too. The light looks fine, although the whites 'seem a bit bright'. The circular 'wave' below the bill takes this to another level.
