I was photographing some very skiddish shorebirds this past weekend when this Ruddy Turnstone decided to run toward me, fluff himself up, then run away. It was one of the funniest experiences I've had with a shorebird.

He really is fluffed up. Amazing. Good pose and great low POV, and I love the seamless fading of the bg. I suppose the IQ would have been better with the 600 prime by itself, but 600 + 2X holds up pretty well.

So glad you shared this image, b/c it really brought a big smile to my face! Love to see all the fluffed up feathers and the BG is working very nicely with your subject. The pose is straight on and the fact that you shot this from such a low angle really makes it that much more powerful.

Comedic for sure! Love the low angle, and the strip of green at top adds a lot IMO. Lots of nice details, and both the whites and blacks look good. I'd have loved for just a bit more profile on the tail end of the subject, but that is just my personal preference.

Hi Grace, lovely low angle of capture, and overall well exposed. The puffed up plumage takes this to another level, and if this were mine, I would take a bit off the top, but still leave a touch of the greens.

    What a cutie-pie!
I really like your low angle and the green strip that runs along the top of the frame.

Ha ha, he looks like one mean, fluffy fur-ball! Lovely angle, eye contact and detail.

That makes me smile too. I can just imagine him running at you, striking this pose and running off. A super low angle and exposure. TFS.

That must have been pretty funny to see Mr. Tuff stuff! The shot looks great and I like the puffed up pose and the HA.. The BG looks fantastic and showcases the bird nicely. One of my Fav little shorebirds.
I think another round of sharpening will bring out some more feather detail. Very nice Grace. Cant wait to see some Alaska stuff!!
