D4 + 85mm f/2.8 1/200 at f/3.3 ISO800 - probably maximum vertically oriented tilt - detailing, toning and saturation (but not enough to alter the base focus)

I wanted to show the interesting focus characteristics using tilt. Notice how the edge of the center left dark building and the distant older buildings are in focus at the wide open aperture f/3.3, while the focus drops off dramatically from the middle of the image to the edges... the result of the focal plane tilted with respect to the sensor. (yeah, I know. makes my head hurt).

Diane, I think the increasing blur is somewhat different that what can be produced with a gradient mask applied to a Gaussian blur. That's not so say there aren't similarities.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

The blur quality here is very pleasing. Nice way to illustrate it.

I usually don't like blurred foregrounds, but it works quite well here.

Very creative and well spotted. I like the "window" to the older buildings. Great use of the TS lens.

Very effective and creative use of the T/S lens, good show! That type of lens would be a great addition to my camera bag. For now I am enjoying the Topaz Lens Effects filter, which has some pretty nice simulations of t/s lenses.
