    Here is another shot i took of my friends female African Grey parrot. She wasnt letting me get too close so used my 70-300 with a 36mm extension tube to get this

    Handheld using onboard flash

    Cropped for composition and usual basic levels and very slight sharpening for web

    Shane:

    Quite dramatic, love the repeating patterns of feathers, the commanding eye, just enough DOF to make it work, well exposed. Comp. works well for me.

    She makes me think of a Jules Verne sea monster.

    This is a very powerful image...loved it from the thumbnail. Your placement of the eye works well, and I love how the colors gradually become darker and more OOF as the viewer moves away from the eye. Well seen and executed.
