Wow i have never seen a shag so green. What species of shag is this? It actually looks like it has dragon scales on its back.

Nice scratching pose and good view of the face and eye.

Only issue I see here is there is a bit of noise on the breast area

    Thanks for sharing

Hi William, I agree with Shane's comments, especially the colour.

    Cheers

Nice scratching pose with the head angled our way and the eye open. Hard to get that combination in real life.
I too am wondering about the green color. Can you explain?

    William:

I almost expect to see a wisp of smoke curl out of his mouth, so evocative of a dragon.

Although he 'fits' the framing well, I might loosen up the crop just a bit if you have more room, esp to the left.

    Cheers

When the shag is perched and drying feathers, they are unlike most water birds, they are not waterproofed. When the sun shines on them, whilst they are 'drying out' they vibrance a green colour.

Excellent image with beautiful color pallet. Very nice preening pose. Love the frame.

Hi William, I am a bit late to your party but I must say the green look of the plumage and eye is astonishing! Thanks for the explanation re the green look. The shot parameters suggest you should have scope to smarten up this extraordinary image along the lines suggested by Shane and others. Well done on the canvas extension, I would never have known - can you fortify yourself and give it a bit more? Well done, Ian.
