seems the little pup think ,when i look into the fearful looking pair of eyes.The bull was actually more interested in the mother of the pup , who was on the right out of the frame.

Image taken at the same location as previous post .I would have liked more room above but this is full frame .

HH after not jogging along the beach

F 6,3 ; Iso 500 ; 1/500 sec ; a bit more DOF would not have harmed the image , but think at this close distance even with F 11 i would have not get the bull in focus too ? i hope as an excuse for shallow DOF .

Hi Andreas - Before I read your description my thought was I wish he had focused on the bull. My guess is that you focused on the face of the pup. This is one I would have probably focused on the bull's nose or toward the rear of the pup to try to get enough dof. Nice low pov and interesting interaction. Comp works for me.

Hi Andreas, I like the title, but can't help think the bull is actually laughing!!!

I also agree on your own observations re DoF, a bit more above etc. However, say that, there are some nice details, like the overall colour and the POV works. Some may feel the white snow covered areas are a distraction, but for me it's all inclusive of the location/habitat.

First of all let me say I like it as it is. Out of curiosity and looking at your settings I just need to ask, why only ISO 500? I do not know how close you were and just speculating really, since the bull is almost in focus, my guess is ISO 1000 would have allowed you to go to F10?

Hi Andreas, it does look like the bull was about to eat the pup! Love the low angle and in your face. Agreed with rachel that the point of focus should have been on the bull since the pup was actually sleeping. A little bit more space above would be nice. TFS. Loi

Actually i do not know as stated in my intro if F 10 or 11 would have helped to get both the bull and the pup in focus . I think it would have not worked to focus somewhere in between .As many times in the field , it just happened in seconds and making decisions is difficult . So i decided to focus on the pup.The bull was on the move to the female , right out of the frame.

Loi how did you get the idea that the pup was sleeping ? Was not sleeping.

Anyhow nothing i can change afterwards , sadly , but i still like it , even if i would have liked both in focus , or like Steve´s test with OOF subject in the FG .

My thoughts as well Rachel, focusing on the points you mentioned @ f/11, I feel would have made this a more effective image and is let down by that, all the same an interesting perspective with good interaction Andreas.
As you say nothing come be done other than a return visit.

DOF noted, perhaps going for f4 would have been a good option, with the bull then being more obviously OOF?
