Don't try this at home….

From recent trip to Hudson River Bay inlet. We had a field day as twelve Black-crowned Night-Herons flew in to roost for the night. This particular one made use of an old truck fender for a perch. After a long day searching for prey, I image anything substantial would be a good place to stretch, groom, and roost. As the tide was going out it exposed thousands of Periwinkles in the mud surface. C&C welcome.

D700, Nikon 500mm + 1.4x tc, 1/640, f 5.6, ISO 1250, Hand Held, Gitzo tripod, Wimberley Gimbal head.
