Default Elegant Tern Shows Off His Catch

Here's a frame from my West Coast Flight workshop earlier this summer. Terns are so graceful and acrobatic that I manage to get a new pose or behavior every time I go out to photograph them. This Elegant Tern had just emerged from a dive into the water with a fish.

What a magnificent take off ( of surely elegant tern ) you have captured here !! Absolutely superb exposure.
Love the way head and fish in colorful beak stands out on beautiful whites of wing, tiny water droplets, lovely blues and of course great composition.
I like the lights and shadows on the tail feathers.

    Regards,
    Satish.

Lovely shot, Doug. The outstretched wing makes for a beautiful diagonal comp, and the fish was kind enough to turn the right way. Nicely exposed with handsome background.

Doug - a graceful image with the head turn, the outstretched wing. The meal is a bonus. Great colors and the water droplets add to it. Well done.

Great looking shot Doug. What a fun evening that was as it was non stop action and your clients really had fun and came away with some great frames. The pose, exposure and detail all look perfect and the fish with the head facing our way is a big bonus. These Terns sure look good against that beautiful blue BG. Very nice.

Killer image, Doug. What makes this image so powerful is the angle of the bird is just right! Perfect exposure and just loving the water droplets, fish and white bird against the stunning blue BG. That slight cocked head really helps engage the viewer!!

Top notch as expected from you. I really like that tilted head and the extra eye contact that comes with it. Perfect exposure and the fish is a bonus.
