    Default IR GETTYSBURG

I pulled an old image out of my file with a lot of greenery. A spring shot from Gettysburg fit the bill. The image was taken near Little Round Top. I made the IR conversion in PS, applied Diffuse Glow, Poster Edge, and a touch of Orton Effect. C & C appreciated.

    Gary,

Greetings. Hmm, the poster edge seems to be working at odds with the diffuse glow & orton. To my eye it seems a little crispy, not exactly oversharpened, but what I would say is too much edge contrast. If I look closely, it seems as though there are image quality issues, but given your description I think it's orton on top of poster edge.

I wonder if the monochromatic view wouldn't benefit from a crop on the top and right.

I do like the curve of the road and the light shimmering on the foliage. Thanks for posting.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

I like the line of the road leading you into the frame and your black and white conversion. Maybe just too much on the leaves as Michael mentioned.

Michael and Jackie, thanks for the look and comments. I agree the poster edge and Orton's effect were over the top. I'll write this one off.

I'd crop some from the bottom and have another go. I like the similar effect of Nik's Glamour Glow and Detail Extractor. I think this could be an interesting one to explore with Topaz Simplify, as well.

Sorry.... But isn't it cool how the paint never dries?

I like this one. I'm not seeing the problems others mention. I quite like the crispness of the vegetation. The darks and lights work well. I would make a s mall clockwise rotation and crop from the bottom.

At Diane's suggestion, the new version started with Topaz Simplify B&W followed by Diffuse Glow and Poster Edge. The image was also cropped from the bottom. The new version looks quite different. I rather like it. I'm not certain it qualifies as a IR conversion.

Whatever it is, I really like it! I think you could do a basic IR conversion then Simplify that then do Diffuse Glow and Poster Edges.

The repost looks different and very nice. I like them both.

    Gary,

Good work on the repost. I like how the lighter trunk and especially the bright lit leaves provide visual focus points amidst the greenery. The curved road anchors the image with depth and the interplay of the light on the leaves is accentuated here while evened out in the OP. Works better for me. Thanks for posting.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Gary...I like this repost a lot, especially the detail of the leaves and the variegated greens. The reflections of the sun on the road, as well as the light peeking through the leaves, are subtle and effective.

Gary, I like the OP better but prefer the crop from the bottom.
