Default Ruby Throated Hummingbird from today

Taken a few hours ago in the back yard. Tripod mounted canon 100-400mm on the 7D. Attracted by feeder. Taken in full sun. This was a horizontal shot but I added canvas to the bottom (my first attempt at this) and made it into a vertical. I sharpened in Photo Shop and then did a noise reduction on the background. Looking for any and all feed about the image and the processing.

    Tripod
    Canon 7D
    100-400mm @400mm
    Aperture Priority mode
    F8
1/2000 ( +1/2 dialed in on the exposure comp)
    ISO1600

    Thanks,
    - Dave

This is a sweet capture and I think your processing is spot on. Off-camera flashes do a good job of stopping the wing motion. I learned that technique last year but the hummers have been sparse this summer around here so I haven't had much opportunity.

This is wonderful! Tack-sharp on the head, very pleasing position of the bird, and lovely BG! Good job on adding the canvas, too.

This is excellent. Really like the wing-blur/position as it directs the viewers to the perfectly exposed and sharp head... while giving a good feel of motion. BG is lovely.
