Canon 6D
80-200mm @200mm
f/5.6 or f/8
ISO 1250 1/3200 (that's the weird part)
HH and MF because I'm a glutton for punishment
Slight highlights/shadows tweaks in LR, Topaz DeNoise, PS smart sharpening
Taken in Cape Town, South Africa, about 3:30pm (a few hours from sunset)
I was hoping for more DOF. Could the high ISO/SS have anything to do with this? Should I have done f/11? Or does the focal length factor in?

Very nice Edward. This would be a keeper for me. I think going F11 would of helped as you only needed a little more depth of field to get the bill in focus, but the eye is very sharp. As far as the depth of field goes it depends on how close you are to the subject. If you are at minimum focusing distance to the subject you would probably need a little extra depth of field to keep more of the bird in focus. This Depth of field thing is something I have been trying to work on as well. In my last post the lens was at 400mm and I was about 6 ft from the bird (just about min focusing distance and f6.7 left the bill out of focus. I should of been at least at f8 as my starting point or kept F6.7 and zoomed back to about 350mm.
Nice catch! Did you get other "poses"? Very nice how the flowers are the same color as the bit of color in the wing.
You could have done with a lower SS and increased the f-number to get more DOF. Were you shooting on some sort of auto setting that let the camera make decisions?
I find it easiest to think of DOF simply in terms of how much magnification you have -- the more, the smaller the DOF. That's why both telephoto and macro have smaller DOFs. That takes into account both distance and focal length.
I would consider a crop from the top to get rid of the bright spot in the upper right and minimize the one in the upper left. That places the center of attention more on the bird.
