Shot this guy today while he was trying to stay out of the wind. I wish (really hard!) that the tail and forehead were sharp.
PP with typical CS3 workflow, cropped about 60%, sharpened with Nik Sharpener Pro, Inkjet.

Nice bird, good pose. A bit over-flashed, and you have some banding going on at the top of the frame.

Thanks Jim. What can I do about the banding. I didn't see it. It is present in the PP unresized file also but not on the Raw file. Dan Brown

Dan, I'm not sure as to the cause of the banding in this case, but you could check some of the ideas in this thread:

As for how to deal with it in this image, I would probably just blur the BG.

He's a beautiful hummer. Perhaps a tad over flashed but I think that you could tone him down some. I don't see banding at the top....but I'm on a small laptop at school. However, the top looks a bit "splotchy". I would just use some blur on the BG and it should be fine. Well done.

A beautiful Humminbird with a nice pose and comp. I love the colors captured but I agree it is alittle overflashed but you can
tone it down in your workflow.

    Default Thanks all!

Thanks for all of the comments. I PP'ed this image on my laptop, and I think that the angle of the screen affected my decisions as to the over flashed issue. If I tip the screen toward myself, the bird looks hot. I will have to revisit this image on my desktop computer. Dan Brown
