    Default Cormi with fish

    Attached Images Attached Images

This was a grab frame when I was shooting terns in SoCal. I saw the cormorant come out with the fish and toss it up several times before swallowing. My exposure was set for terns and as a result I underexposed this one by about 2 stops but I recovered it in post nicely. processed with DPP 4

It is nice to see something different from you.
The thumbnail doesn't do this image justice.
Love the head on look at the fish and the detail in the scalloped feathers.
PP looks good. Would like a bit more room on the LHS

PS Any word on when DPP will support the 1dMKIV?

Great to see shots like this from you. Love to fish toss and the great detail in both the bird and the fish..
If thats recovering two stops and keeping that kind of detail, you rule.

Excellent action shot, Arash! Superb IQ, timing and action! Great job with recovering the details from a 2 stop underexposed shot! TFS

Hi Gail, Thanks. I don't know if it will support old cameras.

Great capture, nice details, like the action, just curios, the two water drops just in front of the birds topbill, the color,is it reflection off the fish's gills.

Thanks Chris, I think those droplets are blood from the fish.

Great action, perfectly sharp. Good job on the exposure recovery. Would like to see more space on the sides. Excellent for a grab shot

    well done!

Pretty sick image Arash. Great action. Nice chop to the water. Would be great to see what you started with in terms of the original image/exposure challenge in post production....

Nice work Arash, your exp setting really let you stop the motion and control the reflection on the fish. I have tried getting shots of cormorants feeding but when the bird is exposed correctly the fish appear as nothing more than a white flash.

Good pose and that green eye and bright face really bring this image to life
