Another frame of the female King Rail along the Hudson River waterfront last Saturday evening. Here, she was preening while her chicks darted around in the shadows of the marsh. Removed a few distracting blades of marsh grass; toned down the brightness in the bg grasses; adjusted levels, white balance, NR and USM. I liked the way the marsh colors picked up the colors of the Rail.

While the BG is quite busy, this image works pretty well. The colors work well together, and the pose is fun. I think it all came together nicely, and your bird does stand out despite the busy BG.
Wonderful image of this species in it's natural habitat. Love the visual "flow" to the image created by all the reeds..A visually strong correlation between the bird's plumage and the surrounding vegetation too.
