    Default Red Deer Stag

As a consequence of your last comments regarding separation of subjects and BKG /FG i post this stag in full swing , taken at the same location just one day later in not that much nice light .
Overcast/foggy day at time of capture and very quiet at the location , long waiting and just coming out of the woods (heard him bellowing for a long time , but no see) running two rounds around his arena , and then back into the woods .

    Canon EOS 1Dx
    EF 500 IS L + 1,4 TC
    Tripod /video head

    F 5,6 ; Iso 4000 ; 1/1000 sec ; manual exposure , +1EV comp

Processed in DPP and PS CC ; cropped for comp , i have chosen more FG than BKG because i think the FG does look more attractive than the BKG. Original capture was central placement of the subject.

Thanks for watching and commenting to my previous post .

    Cheers Andreas

Great bellowing pose and I like the OOF foreground, although I do wish there was just a little more on the top as well. A nice reminder for the upcoming rutting season!

Hi Andreas - great bugling pose and I really like the reds and pinks of the brush surrounding him. Good details, tone and sharpness. I too think it needs a bit more space on top but other than that very nicely done.

Hi Andreas, a little smaller in frame would be good, a hint of breath would be the icing on the cake. Like the colours, reminds me of the Highlands.

Followed your suggestions (a mix) with this RP and made minor tonal adjustments. WDYT?

Yes, one of your best. Stunning tones, nicely processed and perfect timing.

I am interested to see a pano crop. To me, the 2:3/sqare-ish crop is at odds with the long horizontal shape of the subject.... just my take.

Now that's a lot better, but ultimately WDYT, as we can all suggest, but it's your image?

Thanks again guys for your kind comments , i am actually puzzled which to choose , Edīs crop wish can work to i think ,but will not post again.
The wider view gives this stag more room to breath , so i tend to prefer the wider version slightly over the tighter one .

    Cheers Andreas

Lovely image here, Andreas. A great pose by the animal coupled with lovely colors and background. Two thumbs up! I also like the revised version much better, giving the animal more breathing room and also creating more negative space to the left - works for me. If I was being super nit-picky I would try using the clone or spot healing tool on that long light-colored stick protruding vertically in the left background (that is slightly in front of the trees). For some strange reason, my eye keeps drifting over to it pulling me away from the subject. Not a deal-breaker by any means though; again, a super image! -- Cheers, Mark.

Thanks Loi and Mark for your comments/suggestions , much appreciated.

Mark if i would start to clone out that stick , then others will start to being distracting , think and i would end up cleaning the hole BKG . Was actually thinking to do cloning but decided not to do so.

    Thanks again Andreas

Just a quick and dirty edit here using the spot healing tool followed by a bit of selective cloning here and there to hide any repeated patterns. I don't think the others start being distracting now - what do you think?

Lovely shot Andreas. Your RP crop works great for me! Love the colours and the soft light - golden light is not everything to me.
Nice repost by Mark, though I can still see some of the clone-job (although Mark you admitted to it being a quick-dirty job ).
