I love the wing and tail spread. If the eye had been turned just a bit toward you this would have made it a quite powerful image imho.

Have you tried cranking the exposure a bit in PP?

Seems a tiny bit 'soft' around the face otherwise a nice capture. My experience with this camera/lens combination for BIF is that f/7.1 is the best all-round aperture. At full aperture there is a slight loss of resolution that can be observed if you have, for example, an ISO 12233 Electronic Still Camera Resolution Test Chart and a 20 m test range. Also, the extra DOF at f/7.1 can be handy. Regards, Ian.

Hi William, great to see you pushing things and trying BIF and that the kestrel is providing a good source to do this. I like the light coming through the outstretched wings. Dropping the magenta in the Blue of the sky & then increasing the Cyan and or Blue in Saturation helps IMHO.

Nice capture. I agree with all the comments. Sharpen a bit more, increase exposure by maybe a third and adjust the sky color a bit. Keep shooting, looks good.

The boys have hit on the main points and offered good advice. Love the far wing and spread tail.

Hi William this just needed a little PS work to show it at its best. Two curve adjustments were used one to set the white point and another to lighten the breast also added mid tone contrast and a touch more sharpening

Awesome capture -- love the pose -- and Don nailed the fix for the low contrast in the OP. Compare the two histograms and you'll see a dramatic difference.

Don -- a side note -- your RP doesn't have an embedded profile. Some people won't be seeing the colors correctly.

Some web storage sites strip profiles. I can't imagine why in this day and age, but I've seen it happen. Are you uploading directly from your computer?

I see posts on BPN fairly often that don't have a profile, often because people aren't aware why they should be there (see a sticky in ETL), but I wonder if sometimes something is removing them unbeknownst to the poster.

It doesn't make sense that it could be happening just for my download, but it might be good if you or others would check directly. Pull this one and open in PS. Edit > Color Settings should be set to warn of a missing or mismatched profile, and you'll get the warning message.
