While searching for the a male Bobolink recently in a nearby preserve, this now inquisitive and fairly friendly Indigo Bunting arrived. C&C welcome.

Hi Geoffrey, I really like this pose - a great angle captured here, together with the open beak. Lovely soft light, and just love the blues on this species. I do like that smooth BG too.

Beautiful image, amazing colors, nice BG!

Is it just my monitor and/or the sharp sun or is the bird a little over sharpened?

Thanks Tobie. It's not your monitor. After photographing the Indigo Bunting under many types of lighting conditions, and seeing them up close, the conclusion is they have a rather coarse feather construction. Under this lighting it does accentuate the coarseness of the feathers, making sharpening a challenge. I did spend some time with sharpening levels. Thank you, and appreciate you bringing this up.

Very nice capture. Techs look great and the feather detail looks good. Nice to have a calling pose for this beauty. Well done

Very nice singing pose with that wide open bill. Good colours and the BG is excellent. Perch is OK, I only wish there was nor merging between the subject and leaf.
