To save the Eagles we have had a project in Sweden and Scandinavia since 1971 which includes feeding them in wintertime. Hundreds of volunteers have been out freezing and carrying food to the Eagles. (With sucess by the way.)
This Golden Eagle was just eating and eating, rather boring from a photographical point of view. So I tried to see if I could get the head sharp between the legs. Finally the Eagle turned in the right direction and after a while I got a second or two for a shot. Someone may prefer to manipulate the photo to get rid of the meat, let the snow cover the meat, but another way could be to make the meat even a little bit more reddish.
Caon 1 D Mark III, EF 600/4 plus 2 x converter (1200 mm), from a hide of course. I have just cropped it vertically a little bit, because 800 pixels are not so many pixels for viewing.

I must say.....this is an interesting perspective. I'd leave the meat in the image as it tells the story. However, if you had any images with the beak completely separated from the meat, then I'd be tempted to clone it out. Certainly good detail and exposure. I'd be tempted to crop tighter....at least for another view.
Fantastic. I see your point to cropping for more details for a web presentation but you are sacrifiying the composition for sharpness. Hummm a very difficult decission to take! Your post is terrific in terms of sharpness but this image deserves a better composition and I would love to see a repost of this image with the composition that you like more ;)
BTW, the perspective and point of view in this image is very refreshing. The meat is a key element on this image!
