Well I started with fifteen, although I think my friend counted incorrectly, lost one who just didn't seem to eat. So I am left with this guy. I hope to get more images tomorrow, but think he is ready to pupate at any time. The thing I like about this photo is that I can see eyes. Also I witnessed one change from a caterpillar to a pupa, and think it is the most awe-inspiring thing I have seen in nature. Fractalius Sketch 01, reduced opacity, soft light. Darkened various leaves in Viveza, and cloned out a few distractions. Used the 100 mm macro lens. This guy is around 1 7/8 " long.

    Jackie,

Greetings. That is pretty cool, Jackie. The sharp contrasty colors are particularly interesting. I'd be inclined to darken the bottom just below the head a bit and extend a small amount on the right if you have it. Thanks for posting... and the link is pretty interesting, too. Seeing the pupation must have been a real treat. Looking forward to more...

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Yes the first one hatched today. A really healthy male. All have pupated now, so twelve left to fly the coop. It is very exciting. I wish I could give them all a slicker, we have had sooooo much rain up here! I just got a couple of grab shots. If I get anything interesting, I will post a pic. I am glad you are all interested in this story!
