These guys never keep still, so its not always possible to capture a good HA. This was captured alongside the same dam as my previous image, and got lucky with the HA. He was pretty close, and although I wished for more DOF, I dont believe stopping down any more would have helped.

You don't get them clearer / closer than this, Stu! I just love the detail - looks like he/she has a few miles below the belt! Wonder what the round little balls are around its neck - ticks?

Splendid capture Stuart. A nervous look and great character in this bird's face. Good composition, the details are superb and the background works harmoniously. All looks good to me. Regards, Ian.

Stuart these birds have an almost prehistoric look about them, lovely and sharp with nice colour and detail.

Cracking detail here Stu - getting a clear headshot like this is hard, I know.

Awesome! You nailed the details and dof on this image. Love all the colors on this lovely bird, but man that skin makes me want to go put on some lotion!

These guys look so much like our turkeys!! Perfect head angle, good light and comp. I'm OK with the dof. A few brighter highlights in the BG could be toned down IMO, especially the larger one near the bill.

A beautiful picture of a less than beautiful bird!
The IQ and therefore the details are really good.
    Those ticks are cool looking,
    Gail
