After a bunch of mackerels washed up onshore in Nova Scotia a few weeks ago loads of gulls had a feast on the others still swimming near the shore. Most were Great Black-backed Gulls, but there were also some Herring Gulls such as this one. It took less than 5 seconds to wholly gulp the fish down once caught and aligned head first into the mouth.
Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/2500s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, cropped for comp and to "cut" the wings (both were already "clipped"). Cooled the WB which was too yellow out of camera (added blue in Color Balance, to taste).
