    Default Common Tern.

These birds are fairly hard to shoot, especially with a large lens.
That's why I switched to a lighter one on the other day.
    Thanks for looking.

Hi Karl - Great wing position, nice control of the exp and good detail, sweet bg. I'd prefer a little bit more room at the top if you have it.

Great eye contact, wing position, and BG. Did you noise reduce the bird? There seems to be some loss of detail in certain areas of the feathers.

Karl they may be difficult but I recon you have made a very good job of this one, never been successful myself.

    Thanks, Doug.
I don't recall that I needed noise reduction on the bird. I used a slight surface blur on the background but it was a selection on layer.
I looked at the original; certain part of the bird is smooth. My guess is that it goes to the water while fishing and the wet feathers look smooth.
However, I had to remove all kinds of color casts from the bird: red, magenta, and blue.

Now that's a great Tern shot Karl! Perfect angle to the sun with no visible shadows, great eye contact and wing position and a killer BG to boot. I shoot thousands of Tern frames and I would be tickled to have this in my files. The smooth look to some of the feathers is very common in Tern shots. Its the way allot of my Tern shots look even though they are sharp. Very nice

I love this one Karl. Exposure is spot on and so is the sharpness. BG is killer and I like the head turn. Beautifully done

Marvelous flight shot with spectacular whites,HA, great eye contact which is difficult to get.
    Very nice backdrop and composition.
So far I do not have a single image with good eye contact.

    Regards,
    Satish.
