Hi folks posting a straight forward Portrait pano , not as creative and not as good from the technical POV as is old kit.

It still reminds me to Donna Nook , where i have been twice . Need to go back if conditions become more controlled or better for both sides , nature and humans.

Single Grey Seal bull resting on beach.

Went for pano to give the long animal the framing . Added canvas to top and both sides.

    Canon EOS 1D MK IIn
    EF 500 IS L
    Tripod

    F 5,6 ; Iso 100 ; 1/ 125 sec , yes fancy settings for todays knowledge , think i would do it different today .

Processed with Canon DPP and PS CC

Thanks for watching and commenting to my previous post , hey another seal

    Cheers Andreas

Hi Andreas - You did well despite the settings. I like the rich brown tones and the low pov. Good detail and the pano comp works for me.

I like this one even better than the previous image - nicer background, better eye contact, super sharp where it matters. I'd like to know how you thing the image would have been better with different camera settings. I like the way focus goes from tack sharp on the animal's face to OOF towards its tail. For me, the fall off serves to focus attention on the animal's face. Well done!

One of your best from this series Andreas, the POV, framing and look down the lens really works here, you must have been on your knees at least?
And see here .......even the eyes don't have to be level either.

Hi Andreas, I like the way the body is positioned within frame, slightly at an angle leading the eye across to the left. Nice soft BKG with no distractions and the olour palette works well. I feel your current location rather than Donna provided better images and you don't seem to have the issues either.

Thanks to all you guys who commented to this one , appreciate your thoughts.

Marc - who the heck said the eyes have to be leveled ?

Steve - i still feel Donna gives more opportunities in all terms , and to get cleaner BKG is a lot easier at Donna.Plus on Helgoland are the same problems with humans interfering, will go there in breeding season this year and see how it is then . Maybe not that bad , because access in winter to Helgoland is a bit more difficult means less people.

    Thanks again Andreas

    Dear Andreas,

I wanted to begin by saying this is your best Seal image so far, but I might be wrong, because I thought the same about each and one of them...The processing is really great and I like the way you brought out the colours in the subject's fur - superb tonality, great sharpness on the face, decreasing gently to that velvety softness of the tail and background. This is such a pleasure to look at, perhaps it is the point of view and that eye contact that makes it special, or maybe it's in the colours - I like everything about this image, Andreas!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Thank you Marc , you are so kind to lighten up my memory.

Just to clarify things for you , as you said to me , read my comment properly ,clever as you are .......... .Maybe you find a light to read clearer .

Never said all images should have leveled eyes................. read again " THE IMAGE " not "ALL IMAGES" is leveled on the eyes. So this means single not multiple .

BTW - my memory is still working very good , too good sometimes , some say.

One once told me " the lights are on , but nobodies home ???!!.

Never said it wasn't about ALL IMAGES Andreas, if you care to notice my reply line below or were you out re-doing your memory test again?

I like the colour pallette, but I would actually like a little more dof to see more of the seal.
