I like the low angled lighting coming from directly behind you, the wing position is spot on and I love the beautiful subject shown in its surroundings Gail.

Sweet. Love the light, wing position, head turn, environment. No nits. Removal of the grass stalk might disqualify it, but if not, I'd submit it for publication or contest. Or hang it on my wall.

hi Gail, beautiful light and colors as well as sharpness. As far as birdscapes go though, it would have been nicer if the environment had some other interesting features. I'd suggest trying to crop a little tighter. Loi

I think it's as good as you could ask for in a shot like this. Great clear colorful subject, perfect pose with every inch of him lit, lots of beautiful habitat and sky to view, and a well planed composition. Perrrrfect!

A strong recovery from your previous "ugly duckling" post :) Just kidding of course...mostly. Great light quality, love the open spacious composition...really nice that you were able to work as much sky into the background as you did....and did I mention the light quality!...Would have been hard to sleep if you had this kind of light quality to shoot in....

Just stunning, Gail. I echo all the positives above!
I can imagine being sleep deprived and very very tired upon returning from a place like Barrow :)

What a stunning flight pose in sublime light. I am loving the habitat here, and I am loving the space as well. Anther option, not necessarily a better one, for a crop up to the taller grass on the left and a slight crop on the other 3 sides to compensate.
