I had intended on posting a lion image but with all the recent lion images I decided to go with something different and not often posted, a nyala. Taken in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, South Africa.

Hi rachel, certainly not a commonly posted species. i first thought it was a kudu, but tat doesn't look right. Nice composition, good colors and sharpness. Despite the harsh side light, you had the colors and exposure well under controlled. TFS. Loi

Such neat looking animals. Great horns, nice colors, and the coat has interesting markings and texture. The image has nice clarity and detail and I like the habitat backdrop.

    Dearest Rachel,

Saw an older Nyala bull just the other day - he had the most amazing horns!

This lovely chap - the subject of your image - is a beautiful specimen and in great condition, love to see the environment around him, so much green in the BG although it is already winter (was this taken on your recent trip?).

I especially like his proud pose, these guys are quite shy and it is great to know you had the opportunity to capture this young male out in the open.

Well processed and presented as always, thank you for this post!

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

A wickedly handsome animal. Image Design, IQ, SH, EXP, and light all nice. I wish only that they had mowed the area in front of the nyala.... Bad luck for you as to where he chose to stand.....

Hi Rachel , very nice Nyala scape . I like the comp ,overall tones and colors.Very good detail/sharpness and Nicely processed .And somehow special we do not see that often this beauty of an Antelope , just wonder why?.
Looking at the hooves , does it need a canvas rotation ?

Andreas - you may be right about the rotation.

    Thanks,

One of my favourite antelopes, and a lovely image Rachel. Good call from Andreas re rotation.

As an aside - not sure if you or Artie were aware - but many of these open areas in the Sabi Sands are actually "mowed" to provide better game viewing and break up the sections of dense bush (and I don't think they call that buggy that they use for this a Nyala either)
