I guess I will first introduce myself. My name is Anthony and I am fairly new to photography. I first started about 18 months ago. Since I have a fascination with wildlife I thought photographing it would be fun. I've feel I've come a long way in 18 months but know I have a long way to go !!! One of my biggest obstacles is PP and using CS3. My PP skills are pretty basic but I am expanding and willing to learn / expand my knowledge.
Anthony, a big welcome to the BPN family. This is a very pleasing image. Very nicely composed and exposed.
Congrats on your first post, hope to see more from you real soon.
Regards,
Welcome Anthony - sure you will love it here, everyone is really helpful.
Congrats on your first post, Nicely composed and exposed.
Couple of personal observations - on my monitor looks quite noisy between the front legs, also the big green area on the left hand side is a leaf I assume - I would maybe crop it out or something, bit distracting.
Welcome to the BPN family Anthony,
I like your capture and your deer is nicely placed in the frame. I do see a little noise in the background towards the bottom of the frame... Congrats on your first posy, looking foward in seeing more of your work...
Lots of good things with your image. Killer pose and love the eye contact. Well framed (might want a little more at bottom) and did very well with the shutter speed. Did manage a sharp image.
Getting up to speed in PS will be very easy. There is a ton of stuff to learn both in video and print. Most is overly complicated and time consuming. I highly recommend Artie's CD. Will take you step by step on the conversion process. Once you learn the basics you can start looking at other more advance guides.
Basically the image is over saturated and has a strong cast. Very easy to correct in PS applying curves the desaturating. I also did a very slight blurring of the bg to make the animal pop even more. Took about one minute. Will post below.
Welcome Anthony! Love of the deer pops out of the image and super detail too! Lots to like. Do like Alfreds re-post looked a bit over saturated to me as well.
Hi Nonda I took a bunch of saturation away from the original and looking at it you are right still needs some more. I guess it was difficult trusting to back down so much!!!! Here is a re post !!!!
Hey all and thanks for the input. This is great !!! When I originally worked the photo I selected the deer, then a selection inverse and did a noise reduction on the BG only. I didn't see where it missed between the legs >> Good catch.
I had posted this photo on another Forum > There was a large branch to the Left > Mid screen > I cloned that out even though I liked it and thought it added depth.
I'm a bit concerned about the comments regarding Saturation of the Greens. The original post is actually near exact what it was in real life. Very bright lush saturated green background from the light flooding in and through the trees. In PP I only added around a +5 of global saturation in PS and NO additional Saturation in ACR. To me I really like the original post and it's color (Especially the BG lush Green) What bothers me is that I seem to be the only one who likes it..................
That's not good :) If I'm the only one who likes it............... Well who the heck is gonna buy it !!! :D but more so it means I really need to retrain my eye for less saturation or all of my photos will be poorly done in PP.
Thanks for all of the input and reworks > They look Great > Now I need to retrain my eye for a more neutral color tone
