This handsome male California Quail gave me a nice pose on a trip a few months ago to shoot a Peregrine eyrie in San Diego.

Thanks as always for looking and for your input. I appreciate it.

Nice pose and composition. Have you done a bit of work on the rock and/or background on the RHS? - looks a bit washed out, also on the toe just appearing from behind the rock. Cheers, Ian.

Lovely detail in the subject David, cracking BKG, but agree with Ian, there seems to be some of the BKG colour overlapping the rock & claw.

Beautiful portrait of this handsome bird. I love the position of his plume. Love everything, in fact, except where it appears you cloned in some bg color over the rock and claw.

Hi David, great angled pose, and you have brought out the finer detail so well. I do like the colour of the BG, and love the drooping 'crest' ( not sure what you call it )

This dude looks like the cock of the rock :) Excellent subject isolation. Simple effective image design. Head and body angle are spot on. I'm going to be a bit of a tool here, but in the repost, there are background elements on the right edge of the frame that were not in the original, and in that regard, I like the original better. But... with the repost, the area mentioned along the rock line and bird's left foot have been dealt with nicely. Regardless, what a gorgeous well lit bird, that I could surely never see enough images of.

Sweet details in the dark and bright feathers. Perfect pose, great light and IQ. What a flamboyant wardrobe these guys have! Nice work Dave.
