Hi Morkel - Nice theme image. I do wish the head was up a little higher for more separation from the fg and also to not have the mountain line intersecting right at the eye. There's a smudge in the yellows directly above the rump, not sure what caused it. Also I would deal with the lighter area on the ridge at the left edge in some manner as it draws the eye.

    TFS,
    Rachel

    Hi Morkel,

very nice backlit image. I might would lighten up a bit more the lights on the tummy of the animal.
The light area and smudge Rachel is talking is disturbing indeed a tad. Looks like smoke!

Hi Morkel, I like the colours & lighting on this one, but wished the rim light was far more pronounced, darkening the FG does help sadly. Agree on Rachels comments, an easy fix.

Very moody image. I like it a lot. I did agree that more rim light might be interesting, so I did a couple of Curves and removed two smudges on the left side.

In regard to this as a rim lighting submission Morkel, I like this very much, simple, yet effective.
However if taken as a silhouette, the blesbok gets lost to a certain degree in the landscape, sorry buddy.
    So it's 50/50 for me

I like Doug's RP apart from the sky being too saturated for my taste, just personal.

    Dearest Morkel,

I have been told on a few occasions that I "sugarcoat" my comments, but you and I have been friends for a very long time and I hope you won't be cross with me when I share with you my thoughts on this image: the point of view here is such that the subject does not stand out enough for me, I wish you could change the visual angle so that the bokkie would "pop" more against the background.

Despite the mood already mentioned above, I - who is ever so often accused of being "obsessed with aesthetics"- feel there is something forced about this image, perhaps because the subject appears to be somewhat "disconnected" from the rest of the landscape. I do not wish to say " I do not like this", all I am saying is that this is not you, that this photograph seems to lack something, since my eyes are not led to the focal point but wondering all over the place and trying to interpret the image. Maybe it has something to do with the colours, while I was viewing this I suddenly felt the need for some reds there in the sky, or purples - a graduate filter comes to mind right now, but that would perhaps mean altering the original too much? Let me know your thoughts on this please.

Doug's RP has too much yellow for my taste, both the RP and OP lack a tad of space on the bottom, in my humble opinion. Forgive me Morkel, I am a great fan of your work but this is not really working for me

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Great image, colours and toning Morkel, i too don't like the horizon intersecting with the face of the subject, flat on the ground is where you needed to be for this one, not always possible i know.

Not much to add here Morkel, just needs a little more space below the body for my taste. I do like the rim lighting on the belly. With the somewhat down tilted head, looking at this makes me think he's engrossed in thought as he wanders the bush.

Thanks for the constructive feedback, folks. Yes, not as strong a silhouette as one usually desires...will have to go dig some more
