Oh wow -- condolences!! But it sounds like it will heal, that's good news. will the camera take a remote shutter release? You could tie the longish cord into a bundle, maybe velcro (or rubber band) the unit to the body somewhere and fire the shutter with your left hand.
Or -- can you hold the camera upside down and fire the trigger with your left hand?

Wow, so sorry to hear this. Sounds like you have a good doctor, though, and that's good. Diane's suggestions seem the best to me, esp that remote release.

I have a plate and 8 screws from a fall in 2001. No problems after several months. Do your exercises to regain your strength an flexibility and you will be fine.

Talk about a bad break! You seem to have a good attitude though, and that will help pull you through as you recover. In the meantime, don't forget to rotate your pictures once uploaded in the computer

Wow... not good. I am so sorry. I guess all I could recommend as it would be my plan would be to do some tripod shooting using the cable release and left hand. Good luck to you
