    Default Song Sparrow

About two weeks ago while photographing a Grasshopper Sparrow at a local preserve, this little vocalist stayed close and sang up a storm. As I was packing up to leave he became even more curious and flew to a perch for some portraits. I did also think it might have a nest nearby and its curiosity was possibly protective behavior. C&C welcome.

Some distracting twigs removed from BG in cs6.

    Excellent image of beautiful Sparrow,Geoffrey.
Love the singing pose, beautiful colors, nice details and Beautiful BG.
I like the claws of one foot around the perch and others are free.
For this pose, I would prefer horizontal composition.

    Regards,
    Satish.

Thank you Satish. I was considering horizontal originally. I agree it does give him more space.

Nice clean bg, neat perch and a lovely singing pose. The bird is angled just right.
I too am leaning more towards a horizontal comp but would add just a tad more space around. Nice use of fill flash.

Clicked the wrong image. Had done some slight modification in cs6. Here is the correct post.

Very nice singing pose, which is what these guys are constantly doing. I'm somewhat torn, but I believe my preference is for the OP. The horizontal format does show the bird better, perhaps, but I like the BG in the OP.

Good repost and nice bird. The calling pose adds to the image.
