    Hi folks ,
taken this Penguin sledge image on South Georgia Island .
After a short but very steep climb up through deep snow , sometimes disappearing up to my hips .We reached the small colony of Maccaroni Penguins , too early in the season for a lot of action. Only some individuals had already arrived, we have been told that there should be mainly males.
Conditions have been tough with heavy snowfall and strong winds , and we had only a couple of hours..........
This little guy was sliding down a slight slope , instead of walking , clever as he was .

    Andreas:

Fun frame, you have to love their hairdo.

Nice detail showing in the snow, head angle, comp.

    Cheers

Hi Andreas, I like this a lot, and as Randy said, a fun image too. I like the position in frame and the HA, works for me at least.

As I'm away and using the laptop which is never ideal, but depending on how you wish to portray the image with the look & feel, you could get some more detail & texture from the FG snow, but as I say, it's personal choice. I pushed this a tad too much I know, but only to illustrate my point, how far/% of detail is your call. Hope to see more.

Thanks Randy and Steve for your comments and your RP .

If i would not have been there , i would follow your thoughts Steve, but been there i think slightly different about this .
It was pretty hard to see something under the conditions at the location , everything was white around us besides the blacks of the penguins and a few bushes that has not been covered completely with snow , so it would have been better to wear sunglasses .
I hope you know what i mean.
So for me it was very difficult to see detail in the snow , and i tried to keep that in mind while i processed the image.

    Thanks again , Andreas

Magnificent image of Penguin. I do like his hair golden style, nice HA, snow flacks on his back, snowy habitat and composition.

    Regards,
    Satish.

Hi Andreas - What a fun image! I like the action, the detail, and the head turn. I prefer the op but would consider dodging the darker spot in the snow in the upper right. Having not been to South Georgia, I picture the snow as clean and somewhat pristine due to the lack of people, etc. I think Steve, working on the laptop, has brought out more detail in the snow but made it a tiny bit grungy as well. I hope that makes sense.

    TFS,
    Rachel

I agree, it's never great Rachel, however as you both know, it was more to illustrate if Andreas wanted to, there is more detail within the capture . Be nice to get home at some point.
