    Default Painted Bunting from Oklahoma

Here is another PB I captured last week but this one was on my brothers ranch in Oklahoma instead of Texas. I was able to capture multiple poses on this one and love smooth BG. I considered cloning the small splinter of wood angled down toward the lower left corner but if I do, it will really expose the missing toenail, actually it appears to be one missing on each foot. I also don't really like the background showing behind the tail but I am afraid that would be too difficult to hide since the rest of the BG is so smooth.

    Any thoughts welcome.

    Thank you,
    David

This a beautiful image of such a striking bird. Like the detail. IMO you could leave the splinter, but maybe tone it down a bit. Before doing anything I'm not sure, but I think there's a magenta cast over the entire image. For me it's more pronounced on the perch and the light area behind the tail. I would also just tone down the light area a tad behind the tail. Curious to know the exif on this image.

    Shot with: Rebel T2i + Canon 400mm f5.6L, cropped to 3848 x 2565

    EXIF
    1/400 at f/5.6 (handheld)
    0 EV
    ISO 800

    LR adjustments:
    Contrast +17
    Highlights -38
    Whites +14
    Blacks -17

    HSL Saturation:
    Yellow +31
    Green +16

Then cloned out a green leaf in the lower left corner in PS.

Here is the image "As Shot" just converted to JPG in LR. Even this untouched version I believe has the cast you mention. I honestly don't remember what was behind the bird other than very heavy vegetation / brush. Should I bring down magenta a bit?

This really is a bird that looks like it has been messing with the paint and crayons. Top of the perch is not ideal but an easy fix if you wish to go down that route.

thanks for sharing this colorful capture, the bird is so amazing I can ignore the little irregularities in the BG, or the broken tip of the perch. I like your crop from the original, also.

Thanks for posting the exif and the original. Yes I would try taking the magenta channel down about 6 to 8 points.
