Default Belated 4th of July fireworks

My little mountain community had our fireworks just last night. This is the first time I tried to photograph them and it was a blast (haha!). But it was much harder than I expected. I could only guess how long each time to keep the shutter open and it was difficult to frame the explosions since they varied so much in height and left and right. By the time I found them in the view finder it was too late to doing anything. But I can hardly wait for next year to try again!

Used a bit of fractalius and a layer of topaz simplify oil paint.

Well I would say you did a great job! Really nice colors and light painting in the sky. It reminds me of a scratch art work, where the black wax is scratched off to reveal the color underneath. Thanks for sharing!

    Nancy,

Greetings. The color is particularly cool. A nice arrangement with lots of color I'd say is quite successful for fireworks. I agree that fireworks are hard but you did well (first time notwithstanding).

    Cheers,

yes, it is hard....probably took soooo many to get just one or two. At least that's my experience.. Still, fun to shoot and how exciting to get a good one like this! Well done.

Beautiful colors and effects! I've shot them so many times skipped this year. Maybe next....

Excellent-this one looks like a color fountain, love the extreme saturation and contrast as well as the scratch art appearance. I've never tried a fireworks shot, the background skies in NJ always seem to look hazy. Nice one!

Thanks! I hadn't thought about the scratch art look, but I see now.

Beautiful. I especially like the red burst in the center. Also, that long line of the rocket going up. Well done.

  11. Thanks Nancy Bell thanked for this post
