Kingfisher

Another from this season. We don't get much more colour than these in England, so they're always a popular subject
Canon 1d3, 300mm f4, ISO 200, 1/125th,f4, about 90% of the original frame

Excellent image Mike. Perfect lookback pose. Nice DOF has rendered everything sharply in focus. Very nice of this bird to pose with the fish. Nice clean bg.
I'd darken the bright parts of the perch, especially to the right of the bird. I'd probably evict the broken off branches on the perch especially on the bottom left.
What a gorgeous bird!

A classic neat Kingfisher image on a good clean BG Mike, don't think I would change a thing, very nice indeed.

Always a popular subject Mike. They are all on second broods around here! I think I would darken the whole image a little- especially the perch and brightest parts on the birds back. On a personal not I like a bit of habitat indication in the back but not always possible.
Cheers

Mike:
Lovely bird, agree with the folks about toning down the perch a bit.
I like the birds position in the frame and the angled perch.
Cheers

It is always nice to see this bird posted. Excellent looking back pose and the fish in the beak is a big bonus.

A classic over the shoulder pose. Nice sharp detail to this one. Agree re toning down the highlights on perch. You look set for hours of fun with these birds and changes of perch should get the perfect image.

Beautiful frame. Great looking pose with the fish and the colors of the KF against that smooth green BG really makes the bird pop. Very nice.

Hi Mike, lovely angled pose showing off his catch, and the colours are spot on. Good DOF for F/4, and the smooth clean BG works well.

Hi Mike , yes we do not have that many colorful birds over here or there where you live , but then comes this beauty into play .
Like the over the shoulder look and the fish is a nice bonus , lovely colors and pleasing BKG. I would think about toning down the bright area on the RHS perch , if this was mine.

Thanks everybody for the comments. I'll take a look at the perch before I get it printed out.
