Great capture with this classic angel wing pose and the fanned tail.
The exposure is perfect. Excellent IQ.
I really like the shadow of the feet on the tail.
I appreciate that his head is turned away from us because he is busy fishing, but man, having him look in your direction would have been awesome. Tell the fish to move in your direction!

Awesome image, with great details and colors are great and natural. I always struggle exposing these guys, what was the +/- here compared to what the meter told you? If you shoot manual, how much did you overexpose (I am assuming overexposure because of the sky which would lead to an underexposed image, unless the metering of the 5D3 is better than mine by quite a bit).

What an excellent pose! Lovely exposure and details as well. A slightly better head angle would've been nice, but it works for me as is too. Nicely done Karl.

    Thank you.
    I shoot manual. I don't remember but I assume that I overexposed the sky by 2/3-1 2/3.
I also use the green foliage (if available) to set the exposure as the green foliage has similar reflectance to that of a 18% gray card's reflectance.
Both works for me almost always.

Karl, this is a terrific image, it displays the sheer power & might of the raptor! The wing position is superb, the focused look, the talons all add to this effect.

Gorgeous! Wonderful low angle of the light, illuminating the wings.

Spectacular image of Osprey with target locked stare.
Excellent wing spread with superb under wing pattern and fanned tail, beautiful lights and composition.

    Regards,
    Satish.

Due to the pose it is a powerful image. Technically perfect in my opinion. A pleasure to see it. Good work, Karl.

Well exposed shot. I too use green foliage- think a lot do. Head angle turn would make this superb but you cant control wild birds. Look forward to more if you make your return visit.

Gotta love that one Karl. The wing spread and the perfect exposure make for a killer frame even though it is looking down hunting. Well done.

Hi Karl, you have absolutely nailed this - great wing spread, well exposed, and the feather detail shows up so well.
