    Default Clapper Rail

Haven't seen enough of the Clapper Rail? Much the same as Bill, I wanted to see if I could tone the bright mid morning sun down a bit. This image was advancing out of the dense marsh reeds and either beginning or ending a call. These birds are tremendous fun to be around. At least one circled around behind us, and they would pop up in different spots calling as they moved about. C&C welcome.

    D700, Nikon 500mm, 1/800, f7.1, ISO 400, Gitzo tripod, Wimberley Gimbal head.

Darkened FG & BG, NR on BG in cs6.

Nice image. The raised foot really adds. Good IQ and detail.
I wish for a bit more of a head turn our way.
Both of you need to go back during early am and call him/her out again!

I love the detail here, and the soft BG. The light was handled very well.

Love the raised foot and open bill. Nice job with the light. Sharp and well exposed. A little head turn would have brought it up a notch (except that at this head angle he catches the sun nicely; with a better HA the head would begin to be shaded -- I ran into the same problem). All in all, a fine image of a reclusive species.
