This is an endengered specie. Sadly it is loosing its habitat and there is not much we can do as our goverment has been a tad soft.
This is a wild bird and lives in its native area but frecuents an area where they can be easly photographed.

    For this one I used

    1D Mark IV
    840mm
    ISO800
    SS 1/50sec
    F/8
    Tripod
    Full Frame
    Post in PS CS6

    Many thanks for looking.

Great pose, colors, and wonderful detail where it counts. I might be tempted to take a little bit off bottom and right to minimize the oof portion.

A lovely portrait with good details. Great color palette and I love the eye.
My eye is drawn a bit to the OOF area in the RLC but not a deal breaker,

Nice portrait of a great looking bird, Juan. It would be sad to see it's species gone.

Excellent details and colors, Juan. I like how well you've composed the bird too. It indeed sad that this species isn't doing too well - hope it will pull through.
    Is the vignetting natural?

This is simply gorgeous -- fine art!! The darker / low contrast / OOF edges frame the face so beautifully!!

The OOF leaves just above the back of the neck have a look of cloning repeats -- I'd do just a little subtle touchup there, even if it was natural.

    Juan:

Lovely portrait, with nice framing, colors.

The OOF area RLLC is a bit strong. It is so even, I don't suspect it is from vegetation, and it doesn't look quite like fall off of DOF. As Sid asked, was this a post processing change?

    Really like it overall.

    Cheers

Thanks for your comments Sid. The vignetting is not as pronunced in the orinal RAW file, I just emphasize it.

Randy the OOF green on the LRC is natural, in fact I like it as is, that was a large portion of vegetation close to the lens. Thanks for looking and commenting.

Hello Diane and thanks for looking and commenting on my work!
No cloning of any sort in this image! In fact I had to look twice where you mention. After reading your comment about a little touch up I find it beyond my skills to try to fix that, and in fact that was what caugh my eye when I was composing this image!

I love those fronds, too, and everything else about the image! I only meant the tiniest bit of touch up of the three "lines" just above the neck. I wouldn't mind them except that we see so many cloning repeats that it looks like a mistake. I often fix things that were there but that just don't look right. This was about 15 seconds of 5-6 small strokes with a 50% opacity cloning brush.

Diane, the repost looks good but like I said before, I have not clone anything in this image. I have no problem accepting when I do, but no cloning job in this case, it is just the pattern of the hanging compound leaves being blown by the wing.
