    Default Down the Hatch!

    Attached Images Attached Images

The black skimmer chicks are often seen struggling to swallow fish which are far too large for their little bellies. Here's a prime example. I just love the kicked up tootsies & sand. It took the chick over 2 minutes to get the catch down the hatch!

Comments and critiques always welcomed and much appreciated.

Wishing everyone a fun-filled and safe July 4th!!!

Poor little chick got knocked down by the huge fish. Excellent behavior image.

Amazing and wonderful! How do they do that?? Hope it had a nice nap to digest.

Wonderful soft light and BG color fits so well with the chick.

Excellent image and a wonderful moment to capture. It is a bit difficult for me to judge if there has been a bit of front focus here which has reduced sharpness slightly but subject and content trump that.

I'm glad this is already posted to your site, Marina, as I was able to link it to my Facebook page. I have some fishermen friends who will enjoy it a lot. A fun image beautifully produced.

One of those images that just makes me smile. Great story being told. THere's something odd in the lrc. I wouldn't expect that one patch to be in sharp focus.

This one made me smile! Love the flying sand and the flipped up feet. A beautiful behavior shot.
I wonder if there is a way you could separate the little wings from the BG as they seem to get lost in the image.
(I do have to say that I am viewing this on my laptop so I may be off on the last comment).
I would LOVE to have this one in my files. A truly feel good image!

Lovely image Marina. Amazing how big the fish are that they get down their gullets.

Hi Marina, good choice of comp, and thats certainly a larger than large catch for the little one. The pose with the 'kicked up' legs puts this over the top.

Marvelous image with beautiful color pallet. Nice behavior pose. I like the glossy fish, nice eye contact and beautiful lights.

Killer timing, Marina. Absolutely love the kicked up feet, the flying sand and those adorable little wings. I also really like the visible eye and the nice catch light. The large fish and the behavior captured takes this one over the top for me.

A really nice image and great behaviour. The little feet and the feeling it will tip over backwards at an minute made me laugh. It lends itself to a greetings card with funny message- send it off to a card company and see what they say.
