I just got back from the marsh at Circle B Bar Reserve where I found this very accommodating Great Blue Heron. He/she let me approach to about 20 feet capturing images as the bird seem to pose.

No fair living where you do!! (I need to get back there again.)

What would you think about just a little more density in the lighter tones?

Good-looking heron. Nice clean BG and details. I would tone down the brightness on bird a tad.

Nice portrait. Is that a piece of grass stuck on his neck? Pleasing background and I like the details on the worn bill.

Hi Joseph, I like the alert pose and the light looks good. You have brought the finer detail nicely, and thats a lovely smooth BG.

This species looks identical to our grey heron.

Hello Dianne, thank you for viewing and commenting. Regarding your suggestion for a little more density in the lighter tones... do you mean darker or toning them down to show more detail?

Hello Grace, thank you for viewing and commenting. The green area that appears to be grass on the neck is a tiny area where the green background shows through an opening between the neck and body.
