    Default Piping Plover fledgling

Photographed this little fledgling as the evening light was fading. Tricky to photograph as the don't stay still for long. By way of self critique, a slight head turn would have given this a bit more of a 3D effect, but c'est la vie. That fluff at the base of head and silly little tail feathers make these one of the cutest juvenile species, in my opinion.

    Grace:

Lovely colors, cute subject, sharp, soft bg.

I like the comp. choice to keep him small in the frame, plays up how small he is in a big world.

    Well done.

    Cheers

Hi Grace, lovely soft light, and lovely soft plumage on the the little one. I wouldnt worry too much much about the HA, it is there. I like the space in the FG, and love the two tone BG - it graduates nicely. An opportunity well used.

Wonderful image, Grace. I had the same thought before reading Randy's comment: glad you kept him small in the frame. Love the BG/FG, and of course the cutie. Profile shot is fine in my book.

The cuteness factor is off the charts here Grace. Love the shooting angle, the gorgeous light/colors and not to mention the subject. I like your loose comp too. Looking forward to more.

Sid put it so well. "The cuteness factor is off the charts here Grace. Love the shooting angle, the gorgeous light/colors and not to mention the subject. I like your loose comp too."
    I second it.

    Hi Grace
Looked at this a few times and something keeps asking me to take some off the top and as smidge off the right. Just my own view of what I would do. Great image anyway.

A very beautiful image Grace, I like the warm feel and soft light, the background is very complimentary. The clean shells are excellent, as they are free or beach debris

    What a clean image Grace!
Love the hue in BG. Love the soft warm light and the little chick. The foreground adds to the image. I wonder how this image would benefit from a tigher compositon.

Thank you everyone. I did consider a tighter crop (There are enough pixels to do so). Maybe for another purpose I will.

Beautiful colors on this one Grace. I like the bird small in frame to he honest. Gives a sense of its small size. The techs look perfect and I like the rounded rocks it standing on. Well done

What a cutie-petutie, Grace. Love how you made him small in the frame to give the viewer a true sense of their vulnerability. The pebbles make a great FG.
