    Default Opinions sought, Obvious PS?

    Okie dokey, here goes.

A lady really wanted some photos of these two girls (Mother and daughter, but only 6 months apart in age ;( ) together.

I had to do some major PS to accomplish the goal. Since I've stared at it for a while, I thought I'd get some fresh eyes on it to see what you think.

Is it obvious (I know, I've already tainted the jury by saying it was PS-ed) and where?

I'll post a converted original later on.

Jim great idea blending images. Imagine how difficult it is just having one at the pose you want .... two must be nearly impossible. Imagine if both are made under the same light the results will be good !!! PS work looks fine !!!

Actually, both dogs are from the same image, so lighting wasn't an issue ;) Here's the original:

excellent cleanup Jim....might "pop" it a bit more and even open the shadows a bit.
I'm at lunch and just played for fun/challenge....also sharpened selectively and
actually softened the eyes a bit and darkended the pupil.............beautiful canines

Very nice. You brought out a lot of detail in the fur. I've been on a kick of sharpening only the eyes lately, maybe it is time to rethink it a bit.

I failed to mention that these are rescue dogs and that the photos are going on an adoption site to help find a new home (hopefully together) for these two.

They were also both pregnant when rescued.

I think you did pretty darn good Jim! Remember who will be looking at this, not a bunch of nerds like us but people with probably no cameras and a life! *lol*

I doubt they would ever suspect photoshop! ;)

    Good job!

I noticed a little bit around the right dog's ear but that is only because I know where to look. Nice work Jim.

Thanks again everyone. I put the same image up on a pet photographers' forum and got NAILED for wide-angle distortion :(

I've really got to get a good zoom between the 14-24 and the 70-200 for this stuff.

A cheaper solution is to get DxO Optics or PTLens (http://epaperpress.com/ptlens/index.html) and let them correct the distortion. Both do a great job. Probably DxO Optics is easier to use but PTLens is easy to get correction settings for a particular lens if it's not a popular one. If you're using something like the 18-200 VR for this kind of photo, DxO will rescue you.

Thanks Bob, good point. I won't bet getting anything new for the foreseeable future, but I'll keep the more cost effective alternative in mind.

You can't please everyone Jim! I think it's a great capture, but then I'm a real pushover when it comes to Labradors. I've had three in the last 30 years. I'll post an image of my aging black lab soon. :)

    Cheers,

    Bruce
