    Default Jacobin hummer

Just got back from a great trip to Belize. I'm sure some will disagree with leaving the twig in the left of the frame but I did it both ways and liked it this way best.

Great subject that is well exposed and well detailed. Is that the little tongue sticking out at bill tip? That branch you kept in helps balance the image as there is so much empty space and the subject pretty far at right. If you remove it that balance disappears and the image needs are-crop such as a vertical.

I also see this as a vertical as i don't feel all that negative space is adding much. I like the sharp detail in the bird.

Another vote for a vert. I wonder if you could have gone a bit higher?

nice colors, sharp. would also clone out the diagonal branch on the lower right corner

    Hi Joe,
I have to echo Arash's comments.
IQ on the bird is great. I just wish you had a better angle on the bird. I would clone out the dark branch in the RLC as well and go for a vertical.
    A really pretty bird,
    Gail

Like the eye contact. Natural colors and light. My vote for vert crop. TFS. Cheers! Miro

Thanks for the input and your time guys. This was fullframe and I shot a couple fullframe verticals as well but felt the bird was sharp, colorfully enough with good eye contact to hold it's own in this layout instead of just being turned into another sterile vertical of a hummer. Once I get caught up I'll go back and look over the verticals.

Nice little hummer. One more vote for vertical composition.
