    Default Geranium

On our vacation in Maine, we stopped at the Merryspring Nature Center. It was near noon and sunny, so my husband held a diffuser over the flowers I wanted to photograph. I used a plamp to hold flowers as there was a breeze. 105mm macro, tripod.

Processed in Elements 10: Skew, clone, crop, selective saturation and desaturation; selective T. Detail; CEP: Glamour Glow; Viveza; Gaussian Blur and Radial Blur.
Texture: "Spring Green" by Sienna62 .

I don't always try to represent flowers with their exact colors; rather, as I see them in my mind's eye. However, the colors look definitely more saturated here than in Elements 10. Any idea why? I changed color mode to sRGB.

    Anita,

Greetings. Beautiful, Anita. I particularly like the color and depth emphasized by focus and color contrast. The buds in the bg are just right.

What you're seeing in terms of saturation may be your browser (if you're using Internet Explorer). The image is correctly posted with a color profile.

    Thanks for posting.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Michael: Thanks. I use Chrome. At your suggestion that it might be the browser, I opened it in Firefox and the colors looked more like those in Elements 10.

I love the detail in the center of the flower and how the photo gets a little softer near the flowers's edges.
The softness of the background really emphasizes the geranium.
    Lovely image, Anita.

Anita, I was having lots of color troubles like this and switched to Firefox for my browser instead of Internet Explorer. Michael and Diane both said that Internet Explorer has the worst color rendition of all the browsers.

I really like the composition and the feeling of visually starting at the very inside of the flower, and move outward with the radiation of the petals and veins, and continue with the radial blur of the bkgd.

Anita, this is wonderful! The effects you used are subtle and wonderful, and I especially like the selective focus.

For my tastes it could use just a tiny bit more room on top, but that's just me. It wouldn't be hard to add some canvas there and clone, if the original doesn't have it and you don't want to replicate all the steps.

Firefox is my favorite browser. Too bad there isn't more agreement among them.

Thank you for your comments, Catherine, Nancy and Diane.
Diane: I may have to switch to Firefox.

Beautiful image Anita, I really like the colors and the way those blue veins stand out. Very pretty!

I'm also a Firefox user, it seems to be the best browser in terms of rendering color properly. There should be no difference whatsoever in how your images look between Photoshop, Lightroom, and your browser. It should be noted that "here" does not mean BPN, as the vBulletin software that this site uses does nothing to the images before displaying them. It is unfortunate that so many people use one of the two worst browsers out there - Internet Explorer and Safari. Having said that though, there are times when I have to use Safari because Firefox doesn't deal properly with some secure sites (those whose URL starts with https), as in filling in forms when ordering products online. The WWW Consortium (W3C) has set standards for Internet browsers, but companies like Microsoft and Apple decide to do their own thing anyway and the users suffer for it.

Lovely image, Anita. I'd prefer just a little more room on top also.
