I know this a relatively common bird here in Costa Rica but is also one who never dissapoint when it has to pose for my lens :).
In most cases we place a flower and lure the bird with sugar water but in this case this is not a cut plant and instead I had to set up my flashes at a friendīs garden, the plant is alive
and I was waiting for a more difficult (Blue-throated Goldentail) species that at the end of the day did not show up. Well, I guess one never gets all what we whant but it is a good excuse to drive back to my friendīs place another day!
For this one I used
1D MarkIV
300f/4@f/13
Four speedlites
ISO320
SS 1/125
Tripod
A real beauty, love the flower and the bird. Maybe wish the bird was a bit more prominent, a cm or two more into the foreground. Still, overall, great shot!
What a gorgeous setup. Echo all the positives above Juan. Excellent DOF and flash work.
I could see a tiny sliver added to the right (and removed from the left optionally), but very fine comp as is.
