Hi folks another one of the Bonobo twins , the slightly smaller one gave me a cute look , i thought so i fired a couple of shots .
Sadly i cut of the right arm , but no choice , focal length was just to long , and as shooting through glass you need to be right at the window surface to avoid reflections from surroundings.
Hope you like it.
Canon EOS 1Dx
Ef 200- 400 IS L at 200 mm
HH through glass
F 4,5 ; ISO 2000 ; 1/500 sec
Slight crop for comp from bottom and top , should have cloned out or toned down the grass stem growing out of his head , but was too busy with upcoming stuff , so in an ideal world i should have done this.
But for it is just the expression on the face and the chewing on the single grass stem that makes this work.
Not sure if the grass is too colorful ,Steve, i already toned down the yellows/greens quite a bit .
Processed in Canon DPP and PS CC

Hi Andreas - Fixed the title for you. There's a definite cuteness factor to this. I agree with you about the clipped arm. You needed the 70-200 for this one. Nice details and controls of the blacks. I felt like the green was a little bright and there also seemed to be some coming through on the Bonobo (maybe just reflected). I reduced the greens but also darkened them in a hue/saturation layer adjustment. Just my gut reaction. WDYT?
Thanks Rachel , yes you are right with the lens , but i had just the 1Dx and two lenses with me , 100-400 and 200- 400 so even limited somehow......
I like what you did with the greens .
Very adorable face with those big eyes and the lips clamped over the grass stem! Also nice with that one raised arm and curled fingers. Sorry about the other arm. I like what Rachel did with the greens. If you do much cloning, I would consider removing those 2 very light stems that are in a V-shape coming out of the top of the head.
Sorry, do not see enough of a difference between the two but agree the chimp has some green cast. In situations like this I often lock focus and take another shot or two and stitch them together later. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't quite but always worth a try. ;) Nice pose here though, he looks to be a happy baby.
Very cute indeed.
The cut off hand spoils it for me - a lot. I would crop much closer, focus on the chest, head and visible hand - perhaps even square?
Thanks Neil and Morkel for your feedback .
Neil you are right about the greenish cast , should have looked at that a bit more .
Morkel i tried your crop suggestion , but for me it is looking kind of odd, difficult one i think.
